Monday 25th Wednesday 27th May

Hi class, how are  you? I hope really fine and ready to spend a very nice weekend... especially if you have some plans. If you don't have plans, or you have some time to revise English... it'd be nice if you have a look to the new voc related to weather that we learnt last Wed.

Here you have some voc that may help you

Next day we'll watch some weather forecast.

We went to talk about the weather in relation to a very interesting article about  Bhutan. We read and discussed some ideas and answered some questions about life in that special place. We came to the conclusion that going there could end  up in a cultural shock for both parts, them and us...

Anyway, we were listening to peope talking about the weather and that led us to revise some idioms.. Remember that idioms are common expressions that you shouldn't translate into Spanish; you should learn the meaning and the right situation in which that expression fits. Here you have the video we watched to revise again

We finished the class with a song... also related to the weather... I think we can finish talking about this as soon as we have a look to some weather forecasts next week. Until then... please, relax

Be good, have fun, see you in class!

Monday 18th Wednesday 20th May

Hello class, how's it going? I hope everything's fine and all of you're ok too and so on...

These days we have been speaking a lot about living in the jungle, rainforest or whatever kind of different environment for us... in conclusion,we admit we can't from the very beginning... however, maybe if we HAD TO... we could, couldn't we?

We read about that woman, Charlotte Uhlenbroek, and her research and then e completed some activities. Also we went to revise present pefect simple and continuous, and you didn't show any problem. Very good.

Then we continued with a brief revision of adjectives: -ed vs -ing. Remember:

And remember also you have homework. Have a look to the short notes I gave you in order to write an informal e-mail, right? You will choose one of the situations we saw when listening activity 10. Please, try your best.

I think that's all. I really wish you a happy weekend.

Be good, have fun, see you in class.

Monday 11th Wednesday 13th May

Hello class, how are you? I guess you've been really busy these days... I hope now you can rest and have some fun, especially if you're travelling, if you aren't working next Friday.

We were discussing some questions about EXPLORE, that is the new topic. Then we went on with some listening activities, but the most important, again, was your speaking. I'm really happy because you're always ding your best when talking, even whatever the topic.

Next week we will continue with the reading section on page76. Just for you to have  a look... this is part of Charlotte Uhlenbroek's work:

That's all.

Be good, have fun, see you in class!!

Monday 4th Wednesday 6th May

Hi class, how is it going? I hope everything's right and you can enjoy the  weekend and rest and disconnect and so on... Last class you looked a bit tired.

On Monday we finished the lesson we have been working with these weeks having a look to phrasal verbs with three parts

  • catch up with
  • get away with
  • put in for
  • come up with
  • cut down on
  • look up to
  • look forward to
  • put up with
  • make up for

We completed activities, made some listening and talked, using these verbs in questions like these:

  • Is there anything you are really looking forward to doing over the next few days?
  • Is there anything you are trying to cut down on at the moment?
  • Is there anyone that you really look up to?
Then continued with our chat with the listening section related this time to radio phone-in programmes.

Finally on Wed we introduced our new topic EXPLORE. In the next few weeks we will work with voc related to adventure trips, exploring and things like that; we will revise Present Perfect Simple and Continuous and adjectives with -ed and -ing endings... to start with.

That's all.

Be good, have fun, see you in class!

Hi class! How are you? I guess you'e fine but waiting for the weekend, aren't you? You're working too much these days and I'm sure you need a little rest. Well, I hope you can enjoy a relaxing weekend.

This week we have continued talking about SUCCESS in different aspects. We also had a look to some adjectives which describe personality, and your speaking and listening activities were very well done. Here you have some of them:

  • outgoing
  • open
  • proactive
  • opinionated
  • single-minded
  • easy-going
  • selfish
  • witty
  • manipulative
  • headstrong

After this voc we learnt (or revised) some expressions to be used when describing people as well:

  • to be the centre of attention
  • to be a party animal
  • to be a complete doormat
  • to be down-to-earth
  • to be really high maintenance

On Wed we went through page 107. We introduced REPORTED SPEECH  (we will practice some activities next week). In this section we were speaking and listening about feelings and SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY. We practiced these questions:

  • What sports do you enjoy playing/watching? How does it make you feel?
  • Are you a competitive person? Why (not)?
  • Are there any sportspeople that you particularly admire? Why?

Remember to complete page 116 for homework. I know you're very busy so this time it's not too much, ok? Don't forget.

And to finish you showed me about the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team, who start every game by doing their HAKA war dance. Amazing. For those who were not in class here you are:

That's all. I really wish you a super happy weekend.

Be good, have fun, see you in class!
